About SDL Sawmills
Established in 2022, SDL revitalised a local sawmill, bringing a commitment to both environmental responsibility and exceptional timber products to the construction industry. We source FSC® certified timber from responsibly managed forests and other controlled sources, ensuring the highest quality materials while protecting our ecological heritage. Our skilled team takes pride in meticulous processing and grading, delivering consistent, reliable timber that meets the most demanding professional standards.
SDL Solutions Launch
The SDL group began with founder Sam Launchbury as an agricultural contractor, undertaking civil groundworks and site clearance work.
Biomass Diversification
In 2015 with the growth of the forestry harvesting and site clearance. The next step for sustainability was the implementation of two purpose built, cutting-edge 1 mw Giles biomass boilers for production and drying facilities.
Wood Pellet Facilities
We diversified into wood pellet production with SDL Pellets, our state-of-the-art facility. Specialising in producing EN Plus A1 Pellets which are the best quality on the market.
SDL Sawmill Purchase
Our latest diversification was the acquisition of a sawmill to enable us to produce finished sawn wood products.
This completes our 360° biomass supply loop, from the felling of biomass material, through to processing in our sawmills, supplying our biomass boilers with any waste product and being used to power our wood pellet production line.
The sawmill allows us to use the full tree and remove any wastage from the harvesting and processing procedures, supporting our sustainable business practices.
